MahaNandi
At a distance of 52 Km from Banaganapalli, Mahanandi is a holy Shivaite pilgrimage center located in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. This is also one of the famous Andhra Pradesh pilgrimage places to visit. Mahanandi is located to the east of Nallamala Hills, Mahanandi is a picturesque village surrounded by thick forest. Within 15 km radius from Mahanandi, there are nine Nandi temples known as Nava Nandis. Mahanandi is famous for the Mahanandiswara Temple and foremost shrines of Nava Nandis. The nine Nandi temples are Mahanandi, Shivanandi, Vinayakanandi, Somanandi, Prathamanandi, Garudanandi, Suryanandi, Krishnanandi and Naganandi.
Ahobilam
Ahobilam is the place where the Lord Narasimha killed Hiranyakasipu and saved Prahalada. Mahalakshmi took avathar as Chenchulakshmi among the Chenchu, tribal hunters of the hills, and married the Lord.
The temple consists of nine shrines of Lord Narasimha located around a 5 KM circle. Also, there is a temple for Prahlada Varada in the foothills of the mountain. Lord settled in the hills around Ahobilam in the midst of dense forests in nine different forms to fulfill the wish of Garuda. Ahobilam is located in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh in the hills of the eastern ghats, about 66 KM from Banaganapalli (takes ~1hr, 20min via Koilkuntla Allagadda Rd )
Nandavaram
It is famous for the temple of Goddess Sri Chowdeshwari Devi. It is believed that Chowdeshwari devi came from Varanasi to Nandavaram through an underground passage within one day. The temple was built by King Nandana Chakravarthy. It is said that the actual deity and its powerful aura that was present in the temple was so fearful to watch with the human eye. There is a Srichakra in front of the deity and devotees can perform Kunkuma Archana. It is common practice and recommended for Nandavariks to give a saree to the goddess.
